How bad do you want it? “A million thoughts enter my mind as I near the start of a race. I’ve building for this sucker for a solid six months now. All those early mornings beating the sun up and suiting up for yet another day on the grind have more than prepared me for what is to come. I love this sport with all my heart, it’s so much more than that, it’s a way of life for me now, I’m in, whole-heartedly, with every ounce of soul I have. I’m in deep and I want it bad!” It…? What exactly is it that you want? A PB? To complete your first race? Maybe a podium is in the air? Whatever that goal is, it’s there for the taking… the question is… how bad do you want it?
There will be many times throughout your race where you will want to quit. The pain get’s too much, the stitch is grabbing hold, the heat is killing you, your legs… they’re burning, your lungs are about to burst and your feet feel like they’re on fire! But it’s so worth it! The pain is there, it’s slowly getting hold of you, but you fight because it’s just pain, it’s temporary and you know, the glory of achieving your goal will last forever! Get out there, think happy thoughts, smile the daylights out of it and live long in all your glory, it’s there for the taking! “You can keep going and your legs might hurt for a week, or you can quit and your mind will hurt for a lifetime” Mark Allen
